This Frida Kahlo painting is called “Sunflowers.” I tried to capture a moment of her thinking about the flowers that she loves with a portrait that wasn’t in the traditional front-facing pose of her self portraits.
This Frida Kahlo painting is was also used as a basis for an animation I created and projected as part of the Night of 1000 Fridas, a world-wide celebration of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo on January 25, 2019. I won a 3rd place award for the projections.
